Cincinnati QB Munchie Legaux Suffers Horrific Knee Injury vs. Illinois

Cincinnati Bearcats senior quarterback Munchie Legaux suffered a major knee injury during the team’s Week 2 loss at Illinois.

Tim Bechkman, the Fighting Illini head coach, was the first to come to Legaux’s aid after the horrific hit that sent him to the grass, per ESPN’s Big Ten twitter account:

The severity of the injury prompted a quick response by everyone, including the medical staff, as CBS’ Eye on College FBall pointed out:

Cart already out on the field for Legaux. It does not look good.

Before the injury, the Bearcats were still in the game. Legaux helped bring his team back, closing the gap to 28-17. Illinois added another touchdown in its ensuing drive to go up by three scores.

That’s when tragedy struck for the senior quarterback. On a third-down passing attempt, Fighting Illini defensive end Tim Kynard hit Legaux low and his knee was folded back in the process.

It’s uncertain how long the Bearcats starting quarterback will miss, but the it’s hard to imagine he’ll play football again anytime soon.
