LAUREN SLATER
Some years ago, I had the pleasure of meeting dancer Lauren Slater in a production of CELESITAL FANTASY, which I was producing for the 75th Anniversary of the Balboa Theater. Lauren participated in a special scene, depicting the famed Gypsy Rose Lee. Lauren has performed in BRAVO SAN DIEGO on multiple years, and has recently completed five years dancing with San Francisco’s BEN LEVY Dance Company. A dancer with principles and a mind-of-her-own, Lauren has departed Levy Dance, and was back in town briefly to visit her mom, Supervisor Pam Slater-Price, and to take some refresher classes from one of her mentors Jean Isaacs of San Diego Dance Theatre.
Lauren, as beautiful as she is tall, finds what she loves in dance, through her passion for YOGA, and dancing since 3-years of age, Lauren strives to focus in equal portions, her dance to yoga, and is active teaching YOGA in San Francisco. Lauren initially went to San Francisco ‘seeking something new’, met Ben Levy in a dance class, and soon thereafter became a ‘founding member’ of the new Ben Levy Dance Ensemble. For years, Lauren also found satisfying and rewarding, performing in Joffrey’s Ballet NUTCRACKERS, and special performances with the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra at the Walt Disney Concert Hall. High points of fondness in dance also included a tour to Lithuania (European tour) in 2006, and appearing at the IMPULZTANE in Vienna. Her dance interests today now include possibly working with the Janice Garrett Dancers and/or the Liss Fain Dancers, with a thankful glance back at Ben Levy who always challenged Lauren to …grow and dance your best!
